Spiritual Astrology – The Astrology of Awakening
Spiritual Astrology is the astrology of awakening. Spiritual Astrology focuses primarily on the soul and its ability to work effectively through the personality. Also referred to as Esoteric Astrology, or Soul-level Astrology, it highlights the inner life of meaning and of the consciousness that is striving to unfold in our lives.
Traditional Astrology, on the other hand, is an effective tool to support those who have not yet awakened to their higher spiritual being. The main goal of Traditional Astrology is to help the personality to become more integrated. This integration is an essential prelude and preparation to the spiritual path. When the mind, emotions, energy, and physical bodywork as a coordinated whole, then the individual awakens to spirit and steps onto the spiritual path. And so, begins the journey of spiritual initiation.
The principle of reincarnation is an important factor in Spiritual Astrology. This is important because, when working with the soul, we must always take a long view. And, by long view, this means over many incarnational lifetimes. The soul’s design is perfect. However, it is not perfect in its ability to work through an imperfect personality (this refers to our combined physical, emotional, and mental bodies). Before the soul can work or express in a meaningful way through the personality, there must be a degree of coordination between the body, emotions, and the mind. The process of transitioning to governance by the soul happens when the personality vehicles are integrated enough and expresses a generally moral, ‘good citizen’ character.
The Soul’s Project Plan
The lessons and qualities of our previous incarnations carry with us through each lifetime. We understand this energetic imprint as karma, which is the sum of our vibration (thoughts, words, and actions).
Our karma serves, in a way, as a “project plan” for the unfolding of each successive lifetime. The ultimate purpose of the process of reincarnation is the alleviation of all karma and perfection of the personality. Through this process we develop a vehicle (personality) governed (and driven) by the light of the soul. Only then can the perfect expression of the soul in its thoughts and actions be experienced.
