Eating as a Sacred Act

Eating is a sacred act. Something living dies, we take it into our bodies, and it becomes part of us as we become part of it. Plant or animal, hunted, gathered, or bought in the supermarket, this exchange and balance creates the interconnectedness in the physical realm and allows the natural world to continue.

To treat the act of cooking and eating as a chore is a denigration of the love from our Mother. Eating is one of the most basic acts of self-nourishment and honoring of one’s life. It is a necessary step toward self-love and wholeness.

When we nourish ourselves with gratitude for the deep wisdom of nature, we are returning this love and respect by honoring our life as sacred and interconnected with all there is. By nourishing ourselves in nature’s way, we are given a map to live by that honors and unites life, death, light, and dark equally.

Nourishment is not just about focusing on what nutrients our body needs. It does not focus on what benefits us without regard to the interconnectedness and value of all life. It does not put more value on our physical or spiritual experience. They become equal and united for harmony to be restored. We are required to accept the wholeness of the human experience and honor it all.

Nourishment as a Healing Practice

shutterstock_133834184-300x300Nourishment as a healing practice transforms the mundane acts of life, such as preparing our daily meals, into a sacred act of respect and love for our self and all of life. It brings our connection with the Divine into our daily life as a practice and act of love.

This simple practice reverberates out into the world and supports the shift of the collective unconscious from fear, guilt and shame, to love and respect of life and oneself. Obviously this simple act of feeding ourselves has no small effect on our lives, collective consciousness, and world. It is necessary to restore balance to heal the feminine principle.

Many people think it is quaint and out of date to consider a meal as sacred. This is because we don’t struggle for every meal these days. We don’t even have to kill and pluck the chicken. We don’t pray over every animal before we take its life, asking that it willingly give its energy for our survival. We have lost the covenant our ancestors had with the animal kingdom. We have not even grown our own vegetables.

The symbolism of the sacrificial meal is therefore lost on us. But we can bring it right back into our consciousness; it has only been gone for about a hundred years, and our people practiced it for thousands of years before now.

Deepening our relationship with our Mother through the food we eat, infusing our bodies with her consciousness through the energy of the food growing right around us will have a great affect on our consciousness, on the physical, emotional, spiritual, and collective level.

Using the elemental force of the rising spring energy to make the changes necessary for our personal and planetary health and well being is a darn good use of an energy that we have lost a healthy and constructive relationship with.

The Time is Now!

shutterstock_174479600-300x200Spring is the time for rebirth. Action is the energy that will bring it into form. There is no better time than right now to take the action in your personal life through this act of nourishment. Consciously nourishing ourselves is something each and every person has the power to do and this simple act has impact on not just our physical lives, but our soul and it’s growth and evolution. It has the power to infuse us with Divine wisdom and the ability to support the immortality of our soul’s journey through the cycle of never ending life, death, transformation, and rebirth our Mother Earth embodies.

Being humble enough to live by this generously offered wisdom, paying attention to our self similarity with Mother Earth, and seeing ourselves through her eyes has the potential of supporting us to ride this wave out of the darkness and into the light, as we go through the most immense rebirth known to humanity. Considering that we are being shown how to ride this wave by our own Mother Earth surely will transform our relationship with her…and with ourselves.
