Owl has offered me healing medicine on many occasions. Once, I was preparing for bed in my suburban home, when I heard its hooting. It was twilight, that liminal time between day and night, full of possibility. In the twenty years, I had lived in this house I had never heard or seen an owl before. I paused and listened. The owl flew around my home hooting constantly for 45 minutes.  You do not have to be a Shaman to know that there is a message there!

At the time, I did not know what the message was, but it was not long before I discovered the gift that Owl had offered me. Within two months I was called upon to become more involved in my family business. I had to work very long hours, late into the night.  I am a daytime animal. My most productive hours are when the sun is shining. Owl offered me the gift of working at night, and I was very grateful. When I was tired, I just called on the energy of Owl to help me. I could feel her energy fill me up and re-energise me. I would not have gotten through the months of work without Owl’s help.

Another time I was walking in the forest and I happened upon the feather of an owl. I took it as a sign that Owl was with me. This time the gift was of grace and companionship.  Each time I encounter Owl, he offers me a different energy and wisdom.

Owl helps me to see the Beauty, Trust, and Love in the world, reminding me of the great mystery that is within and around us.

Owl reminds me to stand in awe, heart wide open to the incredible beauty and creative power that resides in a single feather.

Owl teaches me that gifts are everywhere if I have eyes to see.

Our culture sees Owl as a symbol of wisdom and insight.  It carries this medicine on silent wings and guides us through the darkest night. Owl teaches us that we are not flying blind, but are guided by our intuition and teaches us to trust our inner knowing and our deepest Self.  Owl Spirit Medicine reminds us to go within, to trust the ancient wisdom that lives within and through each one of us.

Owl speaks of the power of the night. We are often afraid of darkness and the hidden aspects of our soul. It helps us to see in the dark and to go beyond our mind and thoughts. Owl encourages us to use our intuition and to listen deeply; to tune into our senses and trust our guidance.

Owl gives us the courage and the ability to move into the still silence of the dark, tap into our truth and use hidden and long forgotten talents. When we are in the silence between our thoughts, we access the Infinite and feel our connection to All That Is; this is a place of power and healing. Owl teaches that we are a part of a beautiful, loving, and creative Universe.

Blessing and Thanks to Owl for this Spirit Medicine.

Peace and Joy,

Jan
