Pluto-Saturn Conjunction

Pluto Meets Saturn in Capricorn

Shattering Power Structures

The long-awaited Pluto-Saturn Conjunction in Capricorn culminates this week. The influence of this rare cosmic event has been building for several months, and this week these two powerful planets have reached the same place in the heavens. If you have planets in Capricorn (or Cancer, it’s opposite sign), at or near 22 degrees, you are likely to feel this influence on a personal level. For the collective, this conjunction places a stamp on 2020 that will surely be pivotal.

The Larger Perspective

As the great ages of Pisces and Aquarius intersect, the archetypal patterns (vibrational notes) of both signs are stimulating chaotic changes. (Check out this video from of Chladni Plates for an excellent visual).

The thought patterns native to the Piscean era over the last 2100 years have become rigid and inflexible. In esoteric terms this is referred to as crystallization. The rigid old ways are being shaken loose by the new, vibrational note of Aquarius. So, those fixed to the Piscean way feel unsafe in unfamiliar Aquarian waters and are fighting fiercely to keep the old, familiar order in place.

Add Pluto and Saturn

Now, let’s add Pluto and Saturn. Consider Pluto a dredger. It reaches down into the depths and brings the foul, shadowy, and dark aspects of self (individual or collective) to the surface. Saturn, the Lord of Karma, demands that we face the shadow issues so that they can be transformed into a higher expression. So, the combined energy of Pluto and Saturn brings the shadow into consciousness and requires we attend to its transformation.

The shadow of our political and financial systems (think Capricorn) is especially evident right now. Separative thinking, greed, and reckless use of power are breaking down democratic systems all over the world. Saturn rules Capricorn, so he ‘knows’ the landscape here. We have courage in Capricorn, and thus, we have supportive energy to endure what is sure to be a difficult time in 2020.

Seeds of Hope

Rigid, crystallized forms don’t just break, they shatter. Here’s another excellent video about how sounding a note shatters a crystallized form (glass). The defect in the glass is where the vibration finds its way in and causes it to break. Collectively, we are each called to sound our note into the defect in the system. With persistence, mindfulness, and commitment, the old forms that no longer serve the greater good will shatter, and a new reality will emerge.

A quote from Martin Luther King, Jr highlights the hope that we must hold for this time., “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” We each must continue to do our Pluto and Saturn work. Through this we contribute to the collective consciousness of humanity.
