Scorpio Energy
On October 22 we began our Scorpio season. The sun entered the sign of Scorpio on this day and we have two other planets that will greatly intensify this Scorpio energy. Jupiter, the planet of growth and expansion will be in Scorpio for one year, bringing us a magnification of everything in need of healing. Venus in Scorpio brings an intensity to all our love relationships. With all of this Scorpio energy floating around we need to be more mindful of whatever tendencies we have to act out the lower octave of Scorpio, which is symbolized by the Scorpion.
Where is Your Warrior at Work?
We may tend to use our stinger this month if we feel wounded and in need of psychic protection. If we are operating at a higher level we will courageously face our pain and meet it with an open heart. This is the path of the evolved Warrior. The mantram for Scorpio is, “Warrior am I and from the battle I emerge triumphant.” We are asked to do battle with our lower selves, our ego, the unredeemed parts of ourselves that usually hang out in the underworld.
Once these unfinished parts of ourselves are recognized, accepted and held in the cauldron of a loving heart, transformation occurs. And this is the Scorpio journey. We are tested, we have trials, but we emerge triumphant.
Death and Rebirth
The Scorpio season has sometimes been labeled the “season of dying”, because we are entering the winter months where the old dies and goes into hibernation until the light of the sun returns in the spring to bring forth the new growth. And it is true that if we are to make this journey successfully something within us must die to give way for whatever new is waiting to be born. Scorpio is the sign of death and rebirth.
Uranus Provides a Shake-up
The planet Uranus plays a continuing role, in this new moon configuration. Uranus wants to shake us out of our comfort zone. When we stay too long with what is comfortable we can become stuck and our growth impeded. Scorpio is a fixed, water sign so when this stuckness occurs in the emotional realm we can freeze up emotionally. Nothing moves when we are frozen, we just defend and cover up and repress our woundedness. Uranus is there to jolt us into awareness. Once we break through the resistance energy is released that can bring more vitality to ourselves and new energy to our relationships.
There are a few helpful trines involving Jupiter in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces. These will remind us of our universality and that there is a part of us that is eternal and limitless.
Difficult Negotiations
A challenging square between the rulers of Scorpio, Mars and Pluto, and this new moon can make negotiations difficult this month. It may be difficult to reach agreements with others, especially those in positions of power and authority where competition and aggressiveness can thwart any attempt at consensus. We can be aware this month of how we wield power in our own lives.
Questions to ponder:
How do I wield my power? Is it through manipulation, aggression, power over the other, or do I most often feel powerless?
Am I willing to face the darkness within me in order to heal and transform?
What might I be holding onto that is preventing me from feeling more vital and alive?
