Full Moon in Capricorn

Happy New Year and Happy Full Moon Day!

This is an auspicious day in that we start the new calendar year on the exact day of the full moon. The Sun is in Capricorn and the Moon is in Cancer. These two signs have a lot to offer one another. When they are blended and expressed at their highest levels they demonstrate the marriage of the Divine Masculine and Feminine energies, sometimes called the “marriage in the heavens.” Capricorn represents the Father principle and Cancer the Mother principle. This marriage must eventually take place within all of us.

This particular full moon has some positive aspects that might help us maintain a more balanced emotional life, but change is in the air, dear ones. Uranus is active again with its energy of reformation. With Saturn, Venus, the Sun and Pluto in Capricorn, this change might be a bit more measured and reasonable. We can only hope this is so.

Saturn in Capricorn – a Three Year Journey

An important event occurred a few days before the Solstice.  Saturn entered the sign of Capricorn and will stay there for the next three years. The reason this is significant because on the very day of the Solstice when the sun entered Capricorn, Saturn was exactly conjunct Capricorn. That means Saturn was sitting as close to Capricorn in the sky as is possible to sit. And Saturn happens to be one of the rulers of Capricorn, so it’s very at home in that position. But it also means it’s particularly powerful. It hasn’t happened in 500 years!

Full Moon in CapricornOne of the names given to Saturn is the Lord of Karma. So it seems that these next few years we will begin to reap what we have sown. It will be interesting to watch how that plays out in our world. The themes of Saturn in Capricorn will have to do with taking responsibility for our actions, claiming our own inner authority, not giving our power away, and using our power wisely. Saturn will hold us accountable for our actions. It will set boundaries and show us our limitations. It also calls for us to rebuild and restructure what is not working in our lives and in our world.

Set Your Intention

As we walk into this new year let us hold the intention to ponder on the year past and be willing to let go of what needs to die in order to welcome whatever is wanting to be born in you.

May the light of Love shine within your heart.

Capricorn Full Moon Meditation

Meditation

Before we begin this meditation, please make sure you have a piece of paper and a pen handy. If you need to pause the recording, do so. Now on this paper I would like you to write these words, in a column.  Seen, light-hearted, bliss, aligned, electric, devotion, infinite, joy, harmony, deep, wild hearted, powerful, soul-full, inspired, clarity, delight, flow, shine, sensuous, bold. Please keep this paper handy as we go through the meditation.

Let us begin.

Today we are going to spend this time together thoughtfully considering the new cycle we are just beginning this month. This is a new year, an opportunity to start over. Let’s close our eyes and get comfortable. Have your paper and pen handy. Begin with a few deep breaths and notice the feeling of relaxation that occurs with each breath. The body becoming relaxed, (pause) the mind becoming still, (pause) and the emotional body becoming quiescent and quiet.(pause) Sit for just a moment noticing how your breathing brings you home into the body, to rest. (pause) Now from this quiet place within let us ponder these thoughts.

The Capricorn energy invites us to set goals, to be ambitious, to try to “accomplish” and do better. What if we softened that energy and redirected it to noticing what it is we really want to “feel” in our lives. Let us invoke the Cancerian nurturing energy in as a balm for the ambitious, driven Capricorn energy. Cancer wants us to pay attention to our sensitive natures, our feeling nature. So instead of efforting and setting goals we rarely keep, let us ponder on what feelings we wish to experience in this coming year. How do we want to feel in 2018? Take a look now at the list we created at the beginning of this meditation. Listed there are some core desired feelings that you may identify with. Spend some time now contemplating these feelings and see if you can identify three core feelings that you wish to bring with you into 2018, that you wish to live in you in 2018. You may add your own if you don’t see one here that resonates with you.

Now that you have identified 3 desired feelings I want you to contemplate what you need to do to feel the way you most want to feel this next year. Are you willing to do whatever it takes to feel this way? To bring these feelings into your everyday life? List, on your paper as many things you can think of that will help you feel the way you most want to feel.

As we bring this meditation to a close, can you make a commitment to yourself to tune in each day and see if every day you can access one of these feelings?

Let us close now with this prayer, from Tama Kieves.

I bless this year of my life. I bless all that it offered me and I bless all that I received. I thank myself for this year of my life. I thank myself for everything I tried, whether or not it worked. I thank myself for all the times I believed in myself, even if I could not sustain it for as long as I would have liked. I thank myself for the times I got it right. I thank myself for the times I stretched. I thank myself for the times I was generous with myself, I thank myself for the times I invested in my dreams. I thank myself for the times I spoke my truth and for the times I hunted for my truth. Now I ask that this new beginning be blessed. May I feed it with my love and attention. May this new beginning grow into a beautiful year of blessing for myself and for everyone I touch.

And so it is.
