This month the new moon in Virgo falls on Thursday, September 1st, at 2:03am (PDT) Just 5 minutes later there is a solar eclipse. Just 15 days later we have a lunar eclipse in Virgo’s opposite sign, Pisces. Then the fall equinox occurs on September 22nd. So, this is a power packed month.
Eclipses come in pairs and can mark major endings or beginnings, shifts in power, and sometimes they help create lasting changes in our lives. Since these eclipses occur in the sign of Virgo and Pisces we will be presented with opportunities to learn discernment, to take charge of our own healing, to remember how we are all one. Virgo knows how to heal through her connection to the earth’s wisdom. Pisces lives in the waters and washes away any wounds of separation so we may live in the knowing of our deep connection to others.
This new moon has the Sun, Moon, North Node, Jupiter, and Mercury all in the sign of Virgo. We are being asked to examine our view of reality. Where are we stuck in a materialistic mind set? Can we shift our perspective to include the larger whole and a more holistic vision? Are we so focused on perfection that we fail to see the beauty that surrounds us? With this configuration of planets, it is important to take time to notice where we may have ignored our inner wisdom, our feelings and intuitive hunches and be willing to eliminate what no longer serves us.
Virgo New Moon
A poem for Virgo
Every year the lilies are so perfect I can hardly believe—-their lapped light crowding the black, mid-summer ponds.
Nobody could count all of them—-the muskrats swimming among the pads and grasses can reach out their muscular arms and touch only so many…..they are that rife and wild.
But what in this world is perfect? (Virgo wants perfection)
I bend closer and see how this one is clearly lopsided
And that one wears an orange blight
And this one is a glossy purse full of its own unstoppable decay.
Still, what I want in my life is to be willing to be dazzled
To cast aside the weight of facts (Virgo) and maybe even float a little above this difficult world. (Pisces)
I want to believe I am looking into the white fire of a great mystery.
I want to believe that imperfections are nothing
That the light is everything.
That it is more than the sum of each flawed blossom rising and falling.
And I do.

Deepen Your Transformation
Pondering these questions as you enter into meditation this month, especially on the day of the new moon, can deepen your transformation.
Am I open to the possibility that an area of my life might be needing to change, to transform?
What is my heart, mind, and soul telling me about that possible shift?
Can I trust that the Universe will support my unfolding, however that may come about?
