Pause and Reflect

On September 20th we will experience the new moon in the sign of Virgo. New moons constitute an inbreath.  It’s a time to pause and reflect on where we are and where we wish to be.  We set intentions, we ponder on what we wish to create, develop, make manifest.  We consider any guidance we may have received at the full moon and make plans to act on what needs to come forth.

PossibilitiesAt the time of a new moon the moon and sun sit right next to each other in the sky and they are always in the same sign.  Because of this proximity and the fact that they share the same sign the energies are greatly magnified.  It can be a gateway into new beginnings. The new moon symbolizes the return of Light and because of this we are able to envision new possibilities. It’s a wonderful time to create ceremony, light a candle, sit in meditation, invoke the Light and ask to be in alignment with the energies of this potent time.

Being Fully Present

This new moon invites us to focus our attention on the here and now, on what is right before us, our everyday lives. We can do this by breathing into our bodies and recognizing the power that we hold there. Then we can use that power to heal what needs to be transformed within us. Virgo is all about purification and transformation and discernment. Can you use that discernment to notice what in your life is nurturing and nourishing and what is toxic and needs to be released? Where has your life become chaotic and unmanageable?

Use this Virgo energy to simplify, and refine your everyday life so that you can have more energy available to serve humanity. Resist the tendency to judge yourself harshly for those obstacles you recognize and invoke the opposite sign, Pisces, to fill you with compassion, unconditional love and acceptance.

On Opportunity to Heal

With the wounded healer, Chiron in the sign of Pisces, we will be feeling not only our own woundedness, but the pain and suffering of the world. It is time to access our warrior energy to heal those hurt places within us. The perfectionistic Virgo can delay her healing by thinking she has to be perfect before she can share her gifts. A more enlightened Virgo knows it’s about starting where she is, and practicing so she can perfect her skills. She needs to put her gifts out into the world as they are, not wait until she feels perfect.

Deepen Your Transformation

Pondering these questions as you enter into meditation this month, especially on the day of the full moon, can deepen your transformation.

What do I need to do to simply my life so I have more energy to be of service?

Am I willing to let go of the obstacles that may be hindering my growth?

What gifts do I have that I can use to serve humanity today, as I am?

Practicing Presence and Mindfulness

Cargo

You enter life a ship laden with meaning, purpose and gifts

sent to be delivered to this hungry world,

and as much as the world needs your cargo,

you need to give it away.

Everything depends on this.

But the world forgets its needs,

and you forget your mission, and

the ancestral maps used to guide you

have become faded scrawls on the parchment of dead Pharaohs.

The cargo weighs you heavy the longer it is held.

Spoilage becomes a risk.

The ship sputters from port to port and at each you ask:

“Is this the way?”

But the way cannot be found without knowing your cargo,

and the cargo cannot be known without recognizing there is a way.

It is simply this:

You have gifts.

The world needs your gifts.

You must deliver them.

The world may not know it is starving,

but the hungry know,

and they will find you

when you discover your cargo.
