Gemini Full Moon

This month we are celebrating the third of the potent Spring Festivals. These festivals are considered the most important full moons of the year since they set the tone and create the foundation for the remaining nine full moon periods. At the full moon in the sign of Gemini we celebrate the Festival of Goodwill, of Humanity, of the Christ. Gemini is a transmitting energy. It distributes. The transmission that takes place in Gemini was initiated in Aries at the Festival of Easter.

At the Aries full moon we began a new astrological cycle. Aries is the initiator of ideas from the plane of mind. “I come forth and from the plane of mind, I rule.”  The Great Ones impress these ideas upon us during this full moon period. The keynote of Aries is resurrection and all of the kingdoms of nature are impacted.

In May at the full moon in Taurus, called the Festival of the Buddha, the energy that was birthed in April becomes focused and grounded.  The keynote for Taurus is light and illumination. “I see and when the eye is opened all is illumined.” These energies join with the Aries energy and are now ready for distribution at the full moon in Gemini. This distribution is overseen by the Christ, using the penetrating, transmitting energy of Gemini. What exactly is being transmitted? The energy of will, (Aries) the energy of wisdom and illumination, (Taurus) and the energy of love and goodwill,  (Gemini). We are asked to be receivers of this powerful energy of light, love and power, to be open and receptive and aware of how we distribute them into our environment. On a personal level these energies are impacting every cell in our bodies. How can we use this powerful distribution for the benefit of humanity?

Since 1952 the day of the full moon in Gemini has also coincided with the World Day of Prayer or World Invocation Day. On this day we affirm the oneness of humanity, and affirm our relationship to something greater than ourselves. We take responsibility for our part in working out the Divine Plan, as we understand it. Do you have an inkling of what that might be for you? What is your part? We are not asked to save the world but we are invited to radiate the love of the Christ right where we are, in our everyday life. One way we can participate consciously on this important day is to repeat the Great Invocation, said to be the most powerful prayer we can use to bring about the transformation of our world. Many will be joining together all over the world to chant this prayer at sunrise, 12noon, 5pm, and sunset. When our sun enters the constellation of Gemini we begin to be impacted by those qualities that we identify with this sign. Gemini is a sign of communication, of duality, of a striving towards unity. “Gemini is formed by two groups of stars forming two pillars. Ages ago these two pillars were identified with two brothers who were called Castor and Pollux. Castor is formed by three stars which symbolize the three-fold vehicle of the personality. Pollux symbolizes the immortal human soul. It is told that for the last three hundred years the light of Castor is waning and the light of Pollux is waxing.

We have a way to go before we see this manifest on our planet. Everywhere we see this struggle going on between personality values and soul values. I’m sure all of us can identify with this struggle, often feeling torn, here and there, back and forth between these two opposites. It’s Gemini that creates the awareness of this duality within us. What’s the antidote to this duality? What energy is it that can join these pairs of opposites? Well, Venus is the Soul centered ruler of Gemini. Through Venus, Gemini weaves a tapestry of love. It relates everyone and everything so we cannot possibly feel isolated, separated or without connection. It wants to fuse people and ideas. When the Gemini energy is used well one can marry the cold hard facts of the concrete mind with the energy of the heart. This is what creates wisdom.

Gemini is a sign meant to carry intelligence united with love. In Gemini we can grow wise and stable in our capacity to love. “This is the Soul lesson which Gemini teaches.
