Mindful Heart Astrology: Virgo
Virgo, the sixth sign of the zodiac, wraps up summer in the northern hemisphere. This is the time when we harvest what we have sown. We take stock, analyze what we have created, then decide what is useful and what to leave aside. VirgoThe symbol for Virgo is sometimes shown as a woman carrying a sheaf of wisdom, representing the harvest of wheat during late summer. Symbolically, this hints at wisdom we have acquired during this half of the zodiac cycle. Seeds planted during the time of Aries, tended with Taurus, contemplated in Gemini, nurtured through Cancer, and culminated under the Leo Sun, are now ready for evaluation.
Making a Commitment
Using Will and Purpose to Move Forward - At some point in any endeavor we are required to fully commit to the disciplines required to accomplish the goal. Applying will, a sense of purposeful intention, to any endeavor is critical. Everything else unfolds as a result of that first impulse of will. Join our discussion about will, purpose, and making a commitment to something bigger than ourselves.
Leo Full Moon Meditation
This month we meet the energy of Leo whose ruling planet is the Sun, our life force. Because there is more life force energy available to us right now we are invited to move outward, to express, to illumine. These are all Leo qualities. Leo is a great teaching sign so we take our creative gifts and bring them out into the world. We need to invoke Aquarius to help us here. Aquarius is the sign opposite Leo at the time of the full moon. Aquarius is all about distribution, integration and group consciousness as opposed to the Leo personality who is self- conscious, (focused only on himself).
Balancing Work and Rest
Building on the “Essential Rules for living as a pilgrim”, self-care is a key factor in living a balanced, creative, and productive life. A disciplined approach to your life, so that time for work (walking) is balanced with rest, social connection, and what you find most nurturing, is essential to maintaining a life of joy and meaning. How does self-care fit into pilgrimage?
Mindful Heart Astrology: Leo
Leo the Lion, the fifth sign of the zodiac, finds us exactly in the middle of Summer in the Northern Hemisphere. During this time, it is natural for our thoughts of the Sun (Leo’s ruler) and its bold presence in our lives to be most active. Many of Leo’s traits can be easily identified when we consider how we view the Sun, particularly its elemental quality of Fire.
Full Moon in Cancer
In the Cancer/Capricorn polarity we are asked to understand each signs’ qualities and somehow integrate them into a more balanced expression.
