We can understand the spiritual path as a journey to our deepest self. Many of us experience a deep longing to live a meaningful life, a life connected to something bigger than ourselves. We learn early that this is a life-long journey striving to emerge out of the dark illusion of our separateness and into the light of the soul and its truth of unity and oneness.
We are seeking to arrive at the sacred place of our true identity –that divine essence within that is our source of love and connection with everything. But, how do we get there? We get there by looking for the soul and its lessons in the ordinary and extraordinary experiences of our lives. We get there by committing to the soul’s journey and stepping on the path. Just like pilgrims throughout history who set off to journey to a sacred site, what you discover has to do with what you are seeking. What are you seeking on your life’s journey?
The Invitation: In this regular feature we explore the joys, fears, discoveries, and challenges of walking the path in everyday life. We also explore the ways in which the outer journey of preparing for and walking the 500 mile Camino pilgrimage in Spain, reflects the inner journey of awakening to and walking towards the soul within us. We hope these experiences will resonate with you as you consciously embark on your own walk towards soul awareness. Please join us! We’d love to talk with you as we walk this path together.
Letting Go Little By Little
I’m imagining my body being in sync with this spring season, warming up and effortlessly melting away the excess that has accumulated over the winter months - letting go little by little – and then letting go some more.
Spiritual Transformation – It’s a Team Effort
A team that doesn't work well together successfully isn't a money team. It doesn't mean that they are not fun, exciting, or lively. But, it usually means that they are not very effective. If the players don't work together to get the ball into the goal, or the puck into the net, or the football over the line they, are not considered a successful team. Similarly, the Soul can't use a personality whose components don't function as a team. Considering ourselves in this way is a helpful analogy for thinking about the process of spiritual awakening and personality integration.
Five Steps Toward Real Forgiveness in Your Relationship
No one is perfect, and the art of forgiveness is a very normal part of any relationship, even a conscious one. Forgiveness is also something that can’t just be conceptually understood. Remember the early days in school when your teacher would make you say you’re sorry and makeup? Standing there waiting until you said those magic words. You’d say them reluctantly without meaning it just so you could get on with your recess. The same sort of phenomena still happens in adulthood.
Fixing the Desire to Fix
The desire to fix, to help a friend with a problem – it’s a good thing - right? Well . . . sort of . . . sometimes. Actually it depends. What is truly helpful?
Losing – And Then Finding – My Voice
It was a hugely social event – and there I was unable to add my voice, unable to tell stories or add my laughter and comments to other’s stories. This was incredibly frustrating for super chatty me.
