Full moons always heighten our awareness. Whatever is not in balance and integrity is challenged to evolve or dissolve. With the Sun in Cancer, representing the Mother principle, and the moon in Capricorn, representing the Father, we are asked to bring into balance the masculine and feminine energies within ourselves. We must learn to integrate assertiveness with cooperation, and bring our head and heart into alignment.

The Gemini full moon is the last in the series of Three Spring Festivals. We began with the Aries Festival of the Resurrection, celebrating the new impulse of livingness associated with Spring. Then in Taurus we participated in a guided meditation to the Wesak Valley in Tibet where, according to the ancient legends, the Buddha returned to confer a powerful blessing upon the World Teacher, the Christ. In this context the Christ is the title given to the head of the spiritual hierarchy.

One of the rulers of Gemini is Mercury, the messenger of the gods, so this new moon will bring us plenty of new and stimulating ideas as well as opportunities to manifest our deepest desires. Gemini loves the new and exciting and the variety of different experiences. It is bored easily. However, these new ideas may meet with challenges and disapproval by others because of some stressful planetary configurations.

Taurus Full Moon – Festival of the Buddha

This full moon, the Wesak, is the second of Three Spring Festivals. Called the Festival of the Buddha, this is partially because, we are told, that the Buddha was born, reached enlightenment and died, all under the sign of Taurus. But, it is also called the Festival of the Buddha because it is during this full moon when the Buddhic energy of illumination and light most forcefully comes to earth.

Every full moon is a period of unique opportunity. The spiritual realms are very close to us at these times and we can contact the energy of Light and Love that is channeled into the world. This energy benefits all of humankind. The first three full moons of the new zodiacal year, however, are said to be the most powerful of all the full moons. They constitute the spiritual high points of the entire year. The full moons in April, May and June are called the Three Festivals of Spring and they lay the foundation for the remaining 9 full moons. They form a powerful, energetic triangle of force that carries a tremendous potency.
